The Challenge
The Expo 2020 Dubai presented a once-in-a-generation opportunity to showcase design and craftsmanship on the world stage. Our client required a complete FF&E package for their national pavilion – furniture, lighting, display fixtures, and decorative elements – all to be delivered within an aggressive timeline with zero room for delays.
The challenge was compounded by the need to source from multiple countries while navigating COVID-19 supply chain disruptions, strict Expo compliance requirements, and the need for custom-designed pieces that would reflect national heritage.
Our Solution
IHG Brands assembled a dedicated project team and took full ownership of the FF&E procurement cycle:
• Specification Management: Worked directly with the design consultants to finalize technical specifications and material selections
• Multi-Source Procurement: Identified and vetted manufacturers across UAE, Italy, Turkey, and China for different product categories
• Custom Manufacturing: Coordinated bespoke furniture production including heritage-inspired seating and custom display fixtures
• Logistics Coordination: Managed complex international shipping during COVID restrictions, including air freight for critical items
• Quality Assurance: Conducted factory inspections and pre-shipment checks for all major items
• Site Delivery: Sequenced deliveries to match construction phases and coordinated with installation teams
